Professional commitments eventually took her to Karachi, Pakistan where she settled down in 1968. By mid 1960s, she became one of the most popular actresses of Pakistan. Talaash was an even bigger than all Pakistan hit that followed next year.
Both the films were produced from Dhaka, East Pakistan. She has two daughters and one son.She shot to fame with the hit Bengali film Harano Din (1961) and attained all Pakistan stardom with the box office Urdu hit Chanda (1962).
She is married to Bangaldeshi film director Wahis Sadik since 1973. This pair was considered as the most successful one after Razzak-Kabari.Shabana first acted with Pakistani film actor Nadeem in her debut Urdu film Chakori in 1967. Shabana and Alamgir pair was cast in over 100 films. She acted with actors like Nadeem, Razzak, Bulbul Ahmed, Prabir Mitra, Shawkat Akbar, Subhash Dutta, Rahman, Syed Hasan Imam, Uzzal, Alamgir, Jashim, ATM Shamsuzzaman, Khasru, Sohel Rana, Mahmud Koli, Ilyas Kanchan, Wasim, Humayun Faridi, Javed Sheikh and Rajesh Khanna. She first appeared in a Urdu film Chakori in 1967. She first acted in film Natun Sur in 1962 at the age of 9. Her family is originated in Raujan area in Chittagong.
